Joseph Gatto

Gatto has more than 20 years of cutting-edge research experience in biochemistry and molecular biology. Prior to leading Nanosurfaces he was a protein chemist at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Boston. He was a molecular biologist for the Department of Molecular Biology and at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, and at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Gatto has extensive experience in natural plant defensive systems and the production of plant natural products. He was a founder of Ideophase, Inc., a firm which produced medicinal chemicals from plant tissue cultures. He was also a founder of Vcentrix, Inc. a voice-over-Internet Provider (VoIP) service provider, and The Bankruptcy Exchange Auction Market an auction site for bankruptcy claims and debt instruments. Gatto holds an A.B. in Geophysics, Boston University and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
